Arthur G. Rempel Fort Walla Walla Natural Area
The Ft. Walla Walla Natural Area is a great place for nature exploration any time of the year. A recent hike around the area found the trails to be wide open for easy walking. The leaves are off the trees enhancing the chance of spotting the resident Great Horned Owl, ducks and other winter birds. Be sure to keep a sharp eye out for the Red Fox that is often seen roaming the fields and quickly disappearing into foliage when spotted. This is a great place for a family walk to bring the children out into the urban wild. For the sake of the fox and the deer please keep dogs on a leash.
Blue Mountain Audubon Society is cooperating with iNaturalist, a free app that connects people and nature. With iNaturalist you can easily identify the species around you, anywhere in the world.
